Power Production Management turned eight years old in February 2017. To celebrate, we tell the story of PPM’s first customers–Bill and Delia Bright.
“Alex and I started this company in February 2009, and we had been building everything up in the backend,” explained Power Production Management co-founder and director Jason Gonos. “We’d installed systems in the past. We’d been reaching out everywhere we could, trying to find potential customers. Through that we met a couple contractors and one of the contractors referred Bill and Delia Bright to us so we ended up calling them, had a good rapport.”
“I’ll never forget the two kids at the time,” recalled Bill Bright. “Two young engineers out of the University of Florida, Jason and Alex, and they came to the house.”
“We ended up going out, borrowing some gas money to get to Jacksonville, which I thought was pretty funny,” said Gonos.
“Wow! I remember them telling us that, yes,” recalled Bill. “I remember he made a comment about that,” laughed Delia.
“So we borrowed money, went to Jacksonville. As soon as we got there, we were both running on fumes. We were almost at the end of our rope financially,” explained Gonos. “Then the greatest thing ever happened. We knocked on the door and Bill answered and said, ‘Oh by the way, you got the job.’”
“I remember telling Jason, ‘You got the contract, relax,’” laughed Bill.
“So it was an immediate sigh of relief,” said Gonos.
“And I said, ‘It’s OK if we pay upfront, right?” Bill said. “And they said, ‘Oh, yes sir. No problem,” laughed Delia.
“We thought we were being messed with by this guy we had just met,” recalled Gonos.
“When we called them and said, ‘OK, we’re ready. We have the check for you guys,’ they both drove! From Gainesville all the way to Jacksonville to pick up the check to start the installation,” said Delia.
“They were motivated. They were eager. They were anxious, and they were honest,” said Bill. “It makes all the difference in the world. So I wanted to make sure that we helped them get started in the business.”
“They actually thought it was a benefit that we were young and just starting a business, which I thought was really cool,” recalled Gonos. “They wanted to be a part of helping us start out and that’s something that we’ve always appreciated about those guys. They’re very special people to us and they’ll always have a special place in our hearts.”
PPM has now installed more than 300 systems and expanded into several other states.
