The 4-Megawatt solar system at SFTC completely covers all electricity needs of the facilities and is a massive step forward in energy sustainability. The solar system can generate enough power to operate approximately 500 homes. The 12,000+ solar panels installed on the roofs of the buildings, in parking lots, and on solar trees throughout the campus provide clean and renewable energy to the residents and businesses within the community.
Gainesville Health & Fitness
Gainesville Health & Fitness (GHF). PPM Solar completed a state-of-the-art 530.59 kW solar power system at GHF, featuring over 1,000 solar panels. This impressive installation generates around 670 kWh of electricity annually, significantly offsetting the center’s yearly energy consumption and highlighting our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
General RV
The General RV solar project offsets 35% of electric demand, avoiding unfavorable net metering policies by not feeding energy back to the utility. It features high-efficiency, all-black Aptos DNA solar panels with a 30-year production warranty manufactured by Aptos Solar in California. The project also uses inverters from SMA America, a subsidiary of a German manufacturer. The system maximizes the south-facing roof slope and utilizes a section of flat roof. We used non-penetrating standing seam clamps (s-5!) to secure the panels without damaging the roof, ensuring efficiency and durability.
Buckhalter AC
At Backhalter AC, PPM Solar installed black Tesla solar modules, among the most powerful residential photovoltaic modules. These high-efficiency panels require up to 20.9% fewer modules to achieve the same power output as standard systems, boasting high conversion efficiency and improved shade tolerance due to their half-cell architecture. The installation also features the versatile SMA Sunny Boy 7.7 Inverter, which can supply up to 2,000 W of power to a protected outlet during grid outages. This combination ensures maximum energy efficiency and reliability for Backhalter AC.
SmarterStorage
This 117.78 kW rooftop array was installed in Gainesville, FL. Featuring SunPower solar modules and SMA inverters, this grid-interactive system is designed to offset 100% of the energy use of the storage facility that is feeding. This project also features non-penetrating metal roof attachments by S-5! Solar. By not having any roof penetrations for the structural attachments, a longer lifespan and reduced maintenance are achieved for decades to come.
Jessica Clinton Park
This 100 kW Solar Carport was completed in a Port St. Lucie, South Florida public park in 2018. Featuring Lumos Solar modules and a custom structure, this array has fully concealed wiring and translucent solar panels, creating a beautiful glass-and-steel look. PPM had constructed the project for Florida Power and Light (FPL) as part of SolarNow program.
