Important: preparing for hurricane Milton – your solar system guide

If this is an emergency, please contact 911, this is not an emergency response service.

As Hurricane Milton approaches, we hope you and your family stay safe. The PPM team has gathered important information on how your solar system will respond during the storm. Please read carefully based on the type of system you have:

For solar-only customers:

Your solar system is designed with safety in mind during extreme weather events. In the event of a power outage caused by the storm, your system will automatically shut down to protect the grid. There’s no need to worry! Once power is restored, your solar system will automatically restart—no human intervention required.

Key reminders:

  • System shutdown: Solar panels will stop generating power during an outage.
  • Automatic restart: The system will resume operation when grid power is restored.

For solar + storage customers:

As you have combined solar and storage system, you’re better prepared for potential power outages. However, here are some tips to ensure your system is ready:

  • Maximize your battery: Fully charge your battery before the storm hits to make sure you have backup power.
  • Conserve energy: During the outage, prioritize essential appliances and limit unnecessary energy use.
  • Monitor your system: Use the manufacturer’s app to keep track of your battery’s performance during the outage.
