Tesla Powerwall

As amazing and wonderful as solar power is, complete energy independence can be difficult to obtain without the assistance of a battery backup. This is mainly due to the fact that every system installed in Florida must be tied to the grid, meaning that when the grid goes down, so does your solar system. The Tesla Powerwall can detect an outage, disconnect from the grid, and automatically restore power to your home in a fraction of a second. You will not even notice that the power went out, keeping your home up and running without any interruption. Find out about pricing for Tesla Powerwall in Florida!

Fantastic company- when an investment of this magnitude happens it’s often hard to separate the charlatans from the real quality business. Once we’d made our minds up and moved forward we were so pleased we decided to work with PPM - 10/10 quality, efficient and trustworthy.

The sales stage was convincing and great. The wait time for panels to arrive was horrible. The installation was great. The result was poor. The performance of the system is not as sold. It does not offset 98% of my electric bill. There are noticeably low bad performing panels next to good ones, so probably defective. I have reported and requested service and been waiting for more than a year for a response, getting none.. The system is a lemon and the company is a ghost. Definitely would not recommend it to anyone. Continuing my experience…. PPM has finally responded, without arguing or evading. Frankly, it has been so great that I have upped my 1 star review to 4 stars. The company was very quick and effective. They apologized effusively for any miscommunications and delays, they came out immediately, diagnosed and analyzed the situation, found all the issues and even admitted some undersizing in the setup and offered a solution. What more can a customer ask for? The 5th star will be pending the final adjustments to my system and hopefully getting closer to the 98% offset objective. In the meantime, I must say, “I am so glad PPM is a local company, I can’t imagine how bad dealing with a one from Jax, Tampa or even Orlando would have been! Working with PPM in this post sales process is where you see the true customer service, and when PPM has differentiated itself from those stranger out of town companies.”.

PPM Solar is a fantastic company with knowledgeable and professional employees! We worked with Nina to set up everything and appreciate her prompt and courteous communication. We had solar panels installed which included a garage wall charger for an electric vehicle. It seemed that running the cable through our attic was challenging, but they figured it all out and we are so grateful! The installers, Angel and Akeenen, even cleaned up after by vacuuming the garage! We appreciate their attention to detail and friendly service!

When we decided to go Solar we chose PPM as the provider because they answered all my questions and concerns. The sales representative, Mike was very accommodating. The placement of system was very important as it is a ground mount. We have nearly ten acres, and we placed it in a pasture so as not to be in our yard. We started the process in August of 2021 and we’re told that it would be late October for install. The system was not installed until mid-February. Our county permitting office was slow to process the permit according to PPM. The installation crew was very professional and quick. Once installation was complete it took well over a month for our system to become active. It was not until I myself contacted Duke that the new meter was installed, and we could begin generating. We would have given the company five stars, but because of the delays in installation and production was not just because of outside agencies. We believe much of the delay was internal as often times it would take more than one text or email into the PPM office before getting a response.

PPM Solar installed my roof-based solar system in the fall of 2020. I have had it up and running for well over a year and during this period my solar system has supplied 100% of my homes electricity needs, which includes a heated pool and spa and an electric car. In fact, I have had surplus power that I was able to get a credit back from FPL at the end of the year. The PPM folks who installed my solar system were conscientious, thorough, considerate, and extremely professional. Mark answered all my questions, and there were many, happily and patiently and offered me insightful feedback on the best systems available and my best options for getting the best system at the best price. In the end, I went with REC panels and Enphase microinverters. I liked the system so much that I bought stock in Enphase. I would highly recommend getting a solar system. I got a wonderful tax credit and PPM was able to connect me with the Clean Energy Credit Union, which financed my system at a very competitive interest rate. All in all, I would say do your homework and research because I did, and I found that PPM Solar offered me the best price on the best system and the entire process was seamless. I think if you are serious about installing a solar, then a call to PPM would be very prudent, and I know that you will be happy that you did.

Out of the 18 different solar companies/brokers I dealt with, PPM has been the most prompt and upfront on pricing, equipment and installation. They didn't have any hidden fees and were straightforward in every step of the procedure. They took care of everything from the permit to HOA to the utility company. Mike was always ready to clarify my doubts. Nina was prompt in sorting any issues and was great at coordinating. Omid did a wonderful job with the engineering side of things and April was very helpful with the monitoring app. Last but not the least, Hadley was very knowledgeable and ready to explain every single detail. There are hundreds of solar installers but people at PPM make sure its the best experience and makes you want to move to the solar route.

What is the Average Cost of a Solar System in Tampa, FL?

Fortunately, a 10.2 kW system (roughly 28 solar panels in Tampa Bay) can offset approximately 90% of Tampa’s average monthly utility bill. At an average market price of solar systems in Tampa, a 10.2 kW system would initially cost roughly $27,500.

Now let’s subtract the 26% Federal Tax Credit of $7,040, for which most homeowners are eligible.

In addition, other savings include not having to pay the sales tax in Florida and solar being exempt from the county tax assessment!

Add in the energy production, and the estimated savings over 30 years typically exceed $35,000!

Why Go Solar? The Benefits of Installing a Residential Solar System in Tampa

Save money

With solar energy, you can offset your monthly utilities, allowing you to pay off installation costs in a matter of years and saving you thousands of dollars over the lifetime of your solar energy system. You’ll also be eligible for tax rebates and incentives and, in some cases, can even earn credit from your utility company for the energy you produce.

Increase Sustainability

An investment in solar is an investment in sustainability. Dramatically decrease your carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels while improving your impact on global climate change. Unlike other energy sources, solar doesn’t disrupt ecosystems or release harmful pollutants into the air and water supply. It’s also a great way to boost interest in clean technologies and the economies they support.

Gain Energy Independence

A residential solar power system gets you one step closer to energy independence. Know where your power comes from, how it’s produced, and how it’s sourced. Avoid rising and fluctuating rates, take control of your savings, and increase the value of your home. With solar energy, it’s up to you, not the utility company, how you spend your savings.

Protect Your Savings

Use solar energy and storage solutions to protect your home from unplanned power outages, insulate your finances from unpredictable energy costs, and minimize your reliance on public utilities. A comprehensive solar energy and storage solution allows uninterrupted power even when utilities turn off or the sun goes down.

3 - Why Go Solar_ The Benefits of Installing a Residential Solar System in Tampa

Tax Credit is Extended!

This is excellent news as it was previously scheduled to end in 2024. That is an additional TEN years for consumers to take advantage of this incredible tax credit program. And not only that – clients that install solar energy systems in 2022 get an increase from 26% to 30%! That’s a nice bonus — a whopping $1,500 for an average solar client!

The current federal solar incentive is currently set at 30%. It is, however, scheduled to decrease in 2033 from 30% down to 26% and from 26% to 22% in 2034. There has never been a better time to go solar, as the incentive

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I begin?

You begin by speaking with a reputable, highly reliable, and professional company. That company is PPM Solar! We will work with you through every phase of the process. From consultations to design, to installation and maintenance. PPM is one of the most reviewed solar companies in the country. With a 12-year track record of dedication to customer satisfaction and over 750 projects performed, our work speaks for itself.

How do solar panels work?

The simple answer is: sunlight is absorbed through the panels to produce energy. An inverter in the system then converts that energy into useful electricity. That electricity is sent to the AC breaker panel, with any remaining energy “net-metered” to the grid.

What does the solar panel installation process look like?

After making your decision to go solar, you will to speak with a professional at PPM Solar. They will schedule an assessment on your property to determine which solar system will work best. Designing your system is next! On to financing and permitting.

Once all of these things are completed, the installation will be scheduled. Prior to the installation, you should re-check the site selected for the panels. If you chose ground-mounted panels, double check that there is nothing blocking the sunlight and there is no debris in the area. If you opted for roof mounted panels, the roof must be prepped. Check the shingles or tiles to make sure they are attached securely. Remove anything that might be attached to the roof that may be in the way of installation, such as a satellite dish. Also check for trees that could cast shadows or overhanging limbs. They may need to be pruned prior to installation to ensure maximum energy output.

On the day of solar panel installation, there will be various types of noise. If you have small children who nap during the day or if you work from home, you may want to make different arrangements.

Once the installation is completed, there will be a final inspection and then activation of the system. Now, you are ready to reap all of the benefits going solar brings!

Is solar financing available?

Yes! Solar financing can be obtained several ways. There are conditions and requirements for each option. You can finance through PPM Solar. Secured and unsecured loans, as well as second mortgages are other ways to find financing.  Some Florida utility companies offer financing. There are also programs available like the PACE program and Government Loans through the Federal Housing Administration.

How long do solar panels last?

On average, the designed lifespan of your residential solar system is around 30 years. However, that’s not to say your system won’t work well beyond the recommended service life. In fact, there are some solar home energy systems installed over 40 years ago that are still producing power today.

How much can I save on my electric bill with a solar panel system?

Annually, you can expect to save around $1500 for a 6kW system.

Are there any solar incentives available for homeowners?

Yes! There is currently a 30% Investment Tax Credit (ITC). While there are no state rebates, several counties in Florida do offer rebates.

Does solar increase the value of my home?

In most cases, yes! Studies have shown different calculations for how a home can increase in value.

  • Zillow- on average homes with solar have sold for over 4% more, than those without (depending on location, some could be more, some could be less)
  • Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory indicates a resale value of just under $6k for each kilowatt of installed solar power-so the more kilowatts, the more of an increase

Appraisal Journal states that for every $1 saved in energy costs, the home value increases by $20

How do I prepare my home for solar electricity?

  • Have your roof examined to ensure it will hold the load capacity of the panels and racks
  • Make any repairs needed to the roof
  • Remove any debris, satellite dishes, etc.
  • Trim any trees that may overhang or shade the roof
  • Check for proper insulation, repair any windows or doors that may have leaks as this will decrease the optimum energy output provided by the system
  • Check to make sure your appliances are energy efficient
